enjoying the view of Lima
Last night Thorben & I agreed to meet at noon. I realized I wouldn't be able to be on time, so I sent him a message letting him know I'd be 30min late. I didn't want to ruin my punctuality record, hehe. Before doing anything, we had to take care about an important issue: "Getting the tickets for the soccer match "Peru vs Argentina". I remembered they were near to my former job + it would be nice to drive around the Business Area when it's not crowded with people. We found the tickets and everything was ready for Wednesday, yay!!! It was still early to have lunch, so we went to Huaca Huallamarca (pyramid of adobe). I was able to teach Thorben a bit about the Pre Inca civilizacions in the coast and he got a nice view of an ancient building in the middle of modern buildings ;)
Now, we were getting hungry and were ready for lunch.
getting ready to take pics in Barranco
In order to keep on going with Thorben's Peruvian Cuisine experience, I thought it was the best to have a tasty Peruvian buffet, so he could try different dishes. The restaurant was crowded, so we had to wait for a couple of minutes outside. While we were waiting, two guys - who didn't look like locals - left the place. Thorben & I were talking in German and one of the guys said to the other: "He's from my country!" haha. He was German too, haha. He even invited us to go to a "Hard Core" concert that day later. How nice!
Finally we got a table and took a sit. I didn't need to ask what we should get to drink: "Chicha Morada". Ok, we were ready to go to the buffet and get what we wanted to taste. I focused on the cebiche and salads, while Thorben got the different Peruvian dishes.
Mein Gott!!! alles ist lecker!!!
(OMG!!! Everything is tasty!!!)
His 1st plate has some hot appetizers and dishes. We went back to our table and first thing was taking pics of the food. His friends wouldn't believe all he was eating, haha. He was amazed not only because the food was tasty, but also everything was delicious! He found it very difficult to decide which dish he found better, uffff. He tried the Mondonguito - which is cow stomach - and liked it! I was a bit afraid about his reaction after knowing what he ate, but he found it so tasty! He was getting full, but couldn't say no when I mentioned about having a 2nd plate, haha. Thorben was choosing something and I was talking to him in German, saying that the dish was delicious and a man said: "Sehr gut, sehr gut! (very good in German)" his next words were: "Berlin, Berlin!" Then he looked at me and said "that's the only German I know.
ready for lunch...
" haha, so hilarious. We were ready to go back to our table. This time I got a bit of Sangrecita - blood and also did Thorben. He promised me he'd try it and did it. His veredict was: "finally I found something I don't find really delicious in Lima!" well, nothing can be perfect... nevertheless I felt so glad he tried it :)
I was tempted to have dessert but it'd have been too much. We just tried a bit of one, but that was it! After a delicious and very filling meal, we were ready to keep on moving. Going to downtown would be impossible, but we'd go to visit the Fountains. We should be there by 6:30pm to be able to see the show and enjoy the fountains, so we had still some time. Mmm, what to do? Thorben wanted to go back to Miraflores
to take a couple of pics.
at the Fountains park
So we went back to my house. I parked my car, grabbed a warmer jacket and we left. It wasn't sunny anymore, but Thorben could get nice pics + it was nice to walk after that huge meal... it was getting late so we took a cab to the fountains.
We arrived there, got a map and visited all the fountains. The fountains and lights are really nice, but there is one which performs a show 3 times a day. The 1st show would take place at 7:15pm. We went back there just 3 min before it started. This park is very nice and the fountains are great, you just have to be sure to wear warm clothes and comfy shoes, hehe. Thorben couldn't help taking a pic of me wearing a warm jacket, my scarf and cosmopolitan gloves, haha. He couldn't believe it was so cold for me, haha. He needed a proof to show his friends, haha.
The show was great and by 8pm we were ready. What to do next?
I had an idea! Thorben would go by his own to downtown during the next days, but definitely downtown at day is different than at night. The lights are amazing. We were in the neighborhood, so let's go to the Main Square. While we were there we found a chip for Thorben's cell. We not only enjoyed lovely Downtown, but also Thorben got a local number - cool!!!! In our way back we stopped for a beer and chill out a bit. Would we go to the concert? Well, maybe he'd do it. I was a bit tired and had to go back home early... Bis morgen, Thorben!
