shopping mission: accomplished ;P
As agreed Thorben and I arrived to Miraflores at 8pm to meet Rene. He is from the Philippines and we have been in touch since a couple of months ago. He'll attend to the Meet Up, but has to stop in Lima before keep on going through the country. Anyway, he is coming back for the Meet Up, haha. A couple of minutes later, Rene showed up! OMG It was so good to meet him after having been talking during the day and in the past months. Now, we have representans from Europe, Asia and America. how cool!!! We started walking to Larcomar and Parque del Amor, so they'd able to take some pics. We were just walking around and chatting.
he loved the chicha morada!!!
Well, I have to be honest some times I started to talk in German and was mixing the languages, haha.

It was almost 10pm when we decided to go back to the park in order to go to... Tayta! haha. It was Saturday, which means party + the pisco drinks are on sale, haha. Also, none of the guys has already tried the Pisco Sour. Well, I'd solve it, haha. We arrived there and got a confy sofa. Why was it empty? well, Peru was playing soccer. Good for us! haha. During the morning I got a message from Jim, telling me he was back in Lima. So I sent him a message letting him know we were at Tayta and he'd join us when the match was over. The waiter came and I asked for 2 traditional Pisco Sours. I was about asking for a Passion Fruit for me, when he told me they had a new one: "Chicha Sour" which mixes Chicha Morada (a Peruvian soft drink) with Pisco.
first lunch in Lima: Yadi & Thorben
So I ordered it.

The guys tried their Pisco Sours and liked it, but also tasted the Chicha Sour and decided they would have it next, haha. Thorben loved the Chicha Morada, so mixing it with pisco was perfect, haha. Well, it was picture time and I asked the waiter to taking pics of us, haha. Ok, we were ready for the 2nd round: The guys got the Chicha Sour and I got the Maracuya sour, haha. Same as last time, they tried my drink. I guess that was their strategy to know what to order next, haha. Rene was telling us about his midadventures in Cartagena - the authorities at the airport said he was carrying drugs!!!! and in Panama - he couldn't go into Ecuador because his passport was valid only for 4 more months, grrrrrr. Well, the positive side of it was that he was able to be in Lima sooner, hehe.
Thorben und Gunther :)

We have been talking a lot and needed to refill our drinks haha. Thorben got a Passion Fruit Pisco, Rene asked for another Chicha Sour and I got an Algarrobina, so they would be able to try something new. Mixing these drinks wasn't a bad idea, since all cotained Pisco, haha. By the way, I was forgetting to say Thorben was a bit tired, but after a couple of piscos he was completely awake, haha.  By this time the soccer match was over. Peru won, yay!

The place started to get crowded and suddenly a guy wave his hand. I look at him and took me a while to recognize he was Jim! Now he have a beard! haha. So good to meet the Miraflorino again :) Jim might be from Chicago, but he's a local now! hehe. Jim was telling us, what a great time he had in the north.  Some of Jim's friends joined us.
Thorben, my dad and my mom!
Cool! It was past midnight when they said they wanted to go dancing. Rene has been asking about a place to dance salsa, so it was a perfect idea.

There was Live Music and I was feeling a bit tired to dance. So was Thorben. We might have been tired to dance, but not to keep on listening the music and drinking, hehe. But since we were just 2 people we had to move to a smaller table. The smaller table wasn't as pretty as the couch, but we found a pitcher of beer there, haha. Would we complain for free beer? No way! haha. I told Jim to send me a SMS letting me know where they finally went, but I didn't get his SMS until next day! uffff.  Well, Thorben and I kept on chatting, drinking and even danced for a while. And this time we were talking on German and Spanish, haha. Well, have to add to my cv: Spanish teacher ;)

We stayed there for a while and made plans for Sunday. We'd meet at noon, well if we could wake up early, haha.

my parents toasting with Piscos! are they the TB's official parents??
Although last night I went to bed late, I woke up early. I was getting ready for the gym when my cell rang. It was Rene! He's a TB from Philippines who would attend to the Meet Up, but ended coming sooner than expected to Lima thanks to Ecuadorian and Colombian authorities, ufff. Anyway, he arrived last night and would like to meet me if he wouldn't leave the city later. Super! I told him to give me a call the minute he knew if he'd stay longer or not so, we'd arrange when and where to meet. yeah!! maybe a mini Meet Up? sounds so cool! Last night, Thorben and I agreed to have lunch together. As a good German school's  ex-student I arrived at 11:30:00 am, haha. Thorben was surprised with my puncutality, hehe.
with my bodyguards! Thorben, Yadi & Rene
He has a special request before lunch: he needed to buy something he forgot at home. Well, it was early for lunch and there is a shopping center near the place I was thinking we could have our first lunch in Lima, so let's go there!

I asked Thorben what he'd like to try for lunch and he answered: "the famous seafood and fish I've heard about!" Good choice! So we drove to a restaurant famous among the local people. It was early to have a beer so I suggested Thorben to get "chicha morada" (a Peruvian soft drink made with our purple corn). And... he loved it! As appetizer I ordered the fresh and tasty choritos a la chalaca (mussels with onion, corn and red pepper) and for entries we got: Cebiche Mixto (with fish & Seafood) for Thorben and Tiradito (like a cebiche without onions) for me.
tasty!
His veredict: "Delicious!!!" He liked the freshness of the cebiche, haha, plus he's not able to eat much seafood at home. We were just enjoying our meals at same time we were talking about what he could do in Lima and Peru. He has read a lot about Peru, but talking about that with a local is always a bit different, hehe. Anyway, I mentioned him Rene's call and he'd find the idea very good!

While we were there I commented him about the soccer match going on during the night.  It was for the World Cup, Peru vs Venezuela. Sure it wasn't a big match, but Thorben told me he'd like to see one of the Peruvian players. After the delicous lunch we went to a supermarket to look for the tickets and noticed Peru will play against Argentina on Wednesday. Mmm, should we wait for a match with that huge team? Of course!!! That meant Thorben would stay in town for a couple of days more, great so we wouldn't be in a hurry.
round 2: Chicha Sour for the guys and Maracuya Sour for me hehe
Although we were full with our lunch, we didn't have any dessert and saw some tasty cakes in the bakery, mmm. Our next stop was my house, so why not getting some cake and have a nice cup of coffee with my parents + Thorben would be able to know Gunther.

How nice!!! Thorben brought a present for Gunther. Danke schoen, Thorben!!!! While we were waiting for the water, I introduced Thorben to Gunther, haha. Yes, Gunther is a German name, but Gunther doesn't understand German :(  But it didn't stop Thorben to become Gunther's friend. Gunther was so excited jumping from one place to another, haha.

The table was ready and I called my parents. My mom has already met Thorben, but my dad hasn't. After an introduction an letting them know that Thorben speaks Spanish we all took a sit.
with my harem, haha. Rene, Thorben, Yadi, Jim & Joaquin (Jim's friend)
But the surprises didn't end. Thorben had presents for my parents. How sweet!!! We had a cup of coffee while we were tasting the delicious desserts. We got 4 pieces of different cakes and I turned them in a mini buffett haha. Each one was so good.  Thorben speaks Spanish, so it wasn't hard at all for him to talk to my parents. I was so happy we all had a great time. Thorben was telling them about Hamburg and my parents were talking about Peru and wanted to know about his adventures in Asia and Australia & and how is the life back at home. My dad was asking him about his first lunch in Lima and Thorben told him he loved the cebiche. Ok, the cebiche is one of the most famous dishes here, but what about the drinks? I told him we just had beer, but not Pisco YET.
who's thirsty?

What? My parent stood up and brought a bottle of a really tasty pisco. Would he fix the famous Pisco Sour? No, he served some shots! So Thorben would be able to taste the Pisco without any interferences. I was waiting for his reaction and he told me, he liked it, cool! My dad was so surprised, I was considering going to the stadium since I'm not a huge fan of soccer, but well it's the national team vs Argentina, plus I'd go with a TB - what else can I ask for? I know! just hopping Peru would win, haha.

We didn't feel it, but when we realized it was around 7pm. We have been chatting wih my parents for almost 3 1/2 hours haha. We went to my office / HQ, to check if there were news from Lili and Rene. And he called me. I was talking to him, but he didn't answer. I even looked at Thorben, like if I were saying: "why doesn't Rene answer to me?" and Thorben made me realize I was talking in German! LOL. After switching languages, we agreed to meet in Miraflores at 8pm. We barely had time to get ready and leave. Thorben was a bit tired, but taking a nap was not an option... TO BE CONTINUED
