A story of my travels so far...

Before the summer of 2006 I'd hardly ventured out of Europe. I adore city breaks, and Europe really does have the greatest cities in the world! I've honestly felt at home in every European city I've been to, maybe except for Paris, which I think is hugely overrated compared to the charm of many smaller European cities.

Amsterdam is so laid back and beautiful, Prague has the most amazing architecture - I love the red roofs and gothic buildings, Budapest is an amazing mix of old and new and was stunning even in a very cold December, Barcelona is so modern and lively and buzzing, Salzburg is a breath of fresh air set in the most beautiful mountains... I loved Bratislava - it's so pretty near Christmas with all the lights and markets! Berlin is an amazing city, I love that it wears its history on its sleeve, site seeing is so fascinating and relaxing and partying is so cool in Berlin! Riga was fun, very pretty with lots to see and do. I thoroughly enjoyed Madrid and I couldn't have asked for more from a city; the perfect destination for a weekend of fun with your friends!

Hamburg is a fantastic city when the sun's out, very green and lots of nice places to be outdoors, the Alster lakes, the port and the warehouse district in particular. Fantastic nightlife too. German cities definitely get a thumbs up from me! Next stop in Germany is Cologne in February, 11 girls off to see the sites!

I've now had my first ever trip to Italy. I spent 4 days in Florence, with a day trip to Siena. It was everything I expected it to be; beautiful, fascinating, rich in history and culture, great food and wine, lovely people, long sunny days... Needless to say I love Italy and can't wait to go back! Maybe Venice in May...

Even away from the cities...can you believe the beauty of the beaches in northern France! I'm a sucker for a nice beach! In fact, as much as I adore cities, I'm a sucker for beautiful natural scenery, rolling green hills, a white sand turquoise sea beach, snow capped mountains...

The summer of 2006 I ventured further...I spent 3 weeks in Brazil and 9 weeks in South-East Asia.

I instantly loved Brazil and I'd go back today if I could! The beaches, the Amazon, Rio... The people! They're so much fun and so friendly! It's hard not to love Brazil!

Asia took some getting used, but once I did I really fell in love with it! Learning to use chopsticks, getting used to squatting in disgusting toilets, eating noodles/rice for breakfast...and it was my first long trip and I had to adjust to living out of a backpack! Bangkok is possibly my favourite ever city so far, crazy place! But then I loved Hanoi...and Singapore...and Rio...

In my 9 weeks in South-East Asia spent time in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore. I loved them all for so many different reasons! My big holiday this year is 2 weeks in the Philippines in November, I can't wait to get back to Asia! (1 week to go and counting...)

So that's pretty much my holidays to date (not including family holidays to Orlando, Spain, Portugal, Corfu...)  Now I have the difficult task of deciding where should be my big holiday for 2008...suggestions welcome! I'm thinking maybe China...or Mexico...
