Waiting for the elevators to take you up to the top of the arch
Last night at the club was great. I got my dance on and had a few rum and cokes.
The one thing I can never do is leave enough room in my suitcase for soviners. Push here and roll it up there. I'll make it all fit.
Today is colder than yesterday but with the sun out and a jacket it is a great day. The ride to the Top of the Arch is up and running today. $10 gets you you to the top and you are given a time to either meet at the north or south end entrance. Your elevator is round and holds 5 people. As you ascend your car rotates to the angle of the arch. A four minute ride to the top. Nice views of the city and the mississippi river.
Next I headed over to the World Famous Saint Louis Zoo.
At the top, 630 feet
It's located in Forest Park. I wish I had more time to spend here in the park. The Zoo is great and free admission.:) They have the Zooline Railroad. It takes you around the zoo with stations to get off and on, $5 for the ride. The amount of animals they have is outstanding. Get a map and start your adventure. The River's Edge has rhinos, elephants, hippos, cheetahs, and hyenas. The Wild has the bear pits, penguin and puffin coast, and gorillas. Historic Hill has bird house, sea lions, and primate house. The Red Rocks has the big cats, antelope, camels, zebra, giraffe, and kangaroos. There is plenty of places to eat and plenty of souvenir shops. There is no coat or luggage check-in at the zoo.
There are a few things a liked and did not like about my hotel.
The employees where all very nice and carried on a conversation with you and went out of their way to help you. They had ethernet instead of wireless in the rooms. The food was very good. It looks like the hotel was redecorated inside and done very well. The worst thing was that interstate 70 runs between the hotel and the Arch. There is traffic noise all night long. The hotel gives you ear plugs and a cd with relaxing music on it. Nice touch!!!
I wish I had more time in Saint Louis. There is so much to see and do. I did not get a chance to see the Science Center or the Museums in Forest Park. Next time I will rent a car.
Delta airlines called and my oringal flight was getting in late to Saint Louis putting me into Atlanta late missing my connection.
Saint Louis Zoo
They changed my flight from 6:45 to 5:30. I had to get back to the hotel pick up my luggage and get to the airport. I got there in plenty of time and had a chance to get a bite to eat. My flight from Saint Louis to Atlanta was very nice. They kept the plane cool and no one sat next to me. I slept all the way...nice!!!! Atlanta to Tampa was nice too. No one sat next to me again. Delta, we love to fly and it shows. I'll fly with them again.
Finally home and it's midnight. A 20 minute drive and I will be at the house. Not much traffic on Interstate 75 at this time of the night. It was a fantastic weekend. Saint Louis is a super city with friendly people.
