Curry wurst mmmmmmmm

Well I’ve been in Berlin 4 days now and I think I have gotten around 13 hours of sleep. So far the schedule has been to work 12-13 hours, go to dinner, go to a bar, go to bed for a few hours, and then wake up and do it all over again.  I finally hit the wall tonight, and am sitting quietly in the hotel bar finally writing a blog entry.  :-)

I have to say that this is one of the best cities I've been to, and it's cold, windy, and rather wet out. I can't imagine how nice it would be in spring and early summer.

I'll do a quick recap of the events of the last few days, at least those I can remember. :-)

Monday (November 5th 2007)
Had a pretty good nights sleep considering that we had just flown all night and a good part of the day.
I can't even begin to describe how kick ass this car is...
We had breakfast at the Starbucks next door, and ate the famous "ham and cheese" breakfast sandwich that Amit had been talking up ever since he got back from here in May.  I must admit that it is amazing and even better after long night at the bar. It is just a microwaved roll with somewhat questionable ham and cheese, but somehow that all comes together into a very tasty treat!

After breakfast we decided to walk to the office after checking Google earth and deciding it was only ~1.5 miles or so.  Well, I think Google was a little optimistic, or the cold biting wind was a factor, but it seemed a lot longer than that.  We'll be taking the bus from now on.

Nothing very exciting to report about work, but things are going well and we are on schedule.

After work, we headed out to a local bar for a bite to eat, and some refreshments.
I'm in love...
I ended up getting the "Curry Wrust" which was two sausages breaded and dipped in curry and served in a sweet salsa. It looked a little funny but was pretty tasty.

Earlier, on the bus ride home, I noticed a very nice looking Mercedes McLaren roadster ( in a showroom and I talked Amit into walking down to take some pictures of it. Wow what car, the pictures don't come close to doing it justice.  After the car, we decided to head back and get some sleep but I noticed a small little bar called the "Kings Pub" and twisted Amit's arm into going in for a quick beer.

Well, that decision was the main culprit for my lack of sleep over the last 3 days.  It is a tiny little English pub, and the bartender/owner is a little old British guy who has run it for the last 40 years.
I asked Amit how fast he could run becuase I wanted a pic inside of it, but he declined to participate. :-)
We sat down between a guy from Switzerland on vacation, and two guys from South Africa on business.  The next thing I remember is we're 8 beers in and I'm buying rounds for the bar and the bartender. He ended up knocking all the clean glasses over on the bar at one point, and weaved his way out soon after that leaving us to the second shift staff.  We stumbled back to the hotel at around 2AM, blearily making promises to the other 3 fellows to meet up at our hotel the next night at 9pm for another night on the town.

Tuesday (November 6th 2007)

Ow, my head is killing me. I'm not sure what is jetlag, what is lack of sleep, and what is beer related, but it seemed like it was going to be a very painful day at work.  But, after a magic sandwich from Starbucks and copious amounts of water, things started looking up.
These bears are all over the city, and each one is different. Hopefully I can get a bunch more pics with a real camera, they are very impressive.
We had a very productive day, and took off around 6:30 with plans of a good dinner, a couple of beers, and an early bedtime.

Well, the good dinner was achieved, but a couple of beers turned into stumbling home again at 2 AM after our attempts to beg off the 9 PM meeting went awry (Yes I know it's my fault Amit). We made a pretty entertaining group, and I made the mistake of switching from beer to a vodka mohito at around midnight. Things are a little blurry after that, but I do remember our Swiss friend (who had a nice long nap during the day) wanted us to go clubbing which we politely declined.

Wow, this town is too much fun... :-)

Wednesday (November 7th 2007)

Ouch... After sleeping through my 7:30 AM wakeup call, I managed to make it out the door about 10 minutes late, much to Amit's annoyance, as he had woken up much earlier and couldn't get back to sleep.
Another late night in the office wondering what the hell went wrong this time.
Amazingly I feel better today than the previous two; I think my body is going into survival mode.

We had a rather frustrating day at work, and didn't leave until almost 8pm, but are still pretty much on track to finish early tomorrow so we can do some actual sightseeing. It rained on and off all day, but the temperature was quite a bit warmer.

Had beer/dinner in the hotel bar, and that's where I'm still at trying to finish this up without falling asleep. :-)

We are going to try to make it an early day tomorrow, and take all day Friday off to go out and see the sights. With all the rain, working, and nightlife, I haven't had any time to take some good pictures, but I've uploaded a few from my iPhone which will have to suffice until later on this week.

I'll try to keep this up to date more often from here on out...

I took the liberty of writing the rest of your blog:

Day 5/6/7. I am cold. I am stumbling.
Just got back from drinking. I'm not sure if Amit is more drunk than I am, but I do know it's after 2am. I ate at Starbucks this morning, then I went to work. Then we had the most amazing dinner ever.

I did see one special/ cool/ amazing thing today, but I was on my way to Starbucks/ work/ the bar, so I didn't have my real camera with me. I will try and take a real picture later.
