Split apple rock, Abel Tasman national park

Hey all. I have been pretty damn busy since i last wrote so be patient as this may take a while. As i believe i mentioned previously, i moved from Wellington to Abel Tasman national park for 3 nights! At Old Macdonalds farm (place we stayed) they had permanent tents as an option so i chose to jump into one of those and got it all to myself but lacking a sleeping bag it probably wasnt my brightest idea! Spent the whole of the first day in Tasman kayaking with Chris, Will, the Sarahs and Scottish Jenny. All very cool people and going off to sea without a guide is so good and nicely chilled. Even saw a Seal swimming along with a huge bite taken out of it, apparently its mating season and they like rough sex or something. The rest of the time i spent in Tasman was just nice chilling and a little walking, nothing too exciting but the scenerey all over NZ is so good you dont really need to do too much sometimes other then just take it all in.

Im hot

On the way to our next destination (Barrytown) we did a couple of walks. Cape Foulwind (named by Captain Cook because it stinks like poop) to look at some Seals (didnt actually get any decent photos of them though but they did stink) and then onto Pancake rocks. As you might have figured out they are rocks that look like a stack of pancakes. New Zealand is like Ronseal, they like to name things simply and so they do what they say on the tin. So that evening my life changed a little and my testicles got more air. Destination Barrytown, rules = cross dressing! Barrytown is rumoured to be owned by our bus company Stray as there is nothing to do there but get drunk and carve bones in the morning. Anyways the gist of the night is that i look good in pink and like Canadian girls (actual girls not boy/girls) and that waking up in the morning and sitting drinking beer, whisky and baileys for 4 hours before getting on a bus can make the journey interesting! The morning beers were thanks to a cool 18 year old Kiwi fella called Pete who was working the bar the night before and goes to Barrytown to relax and touch travellers on his weekends off!

Fortuneately we left Barrynotown and moved on to Franz Josef.

Glacier
Before we arrived at Franz i got to try some Possum pie and feed some animals. Just outside the town is the fastest changing glacier in the world so we paid up put our crampons on (spikes boot things) and walked up it (well some of the way). Glaciers are cool man (get it!) they even gave me a little axe to play with and let me walk through some cracks which was an experience. Franz Joseph glacier is actually growing in size also unlike most glaciers in the world which is something i guess! Glaciers are cold and good fun.

Next up Makarora and again on the way got to some picture stops such as Lake Matheson which is almost mirror like and Roaring Billy Falls where we acted like men and chucks stones around. Again Makarora is not too disimilar to Barrytown except for the hostel being nicer and the scenery too.

The theme for this night was Karaoke! As some of you may know i havent exactly got the voice of an angel (unless the angel is dieing slowly and painfully) so i decided it would be easier to whack on my dress and sing Man i feel like a woman. I came a close second to an Irish guy off the bus who wooed the driver by sitting on her knee and singing Your Song. Not that im bitter of anything but i was better. (i got a free pint though)

That pretty much leave me to today. Im in Wanaka which is an awesome little town surrounded by mountains and the bluest lakes. Tommorrow the plan in probably to go to Queenstown which is the adventure capital of the world. You can do pretty much anything adventurous you can think of there! I will probably do some more kayaking as that has been one of my favourite activities so far.

Lake Matheson
Before i leave Wanaka tommorrow Chris, Will, American Dan and I intend to go shoot guns and fire rubber tennis balls at each other! I cant wait!

Anyhoo as i always feel like im talking a lot of poop in this thing im off. Send me hugs and kisses. I have 3 weeks left in NZ and i havent planned my time very well (maybe rushed the north island too much) so i plan to laze around more in future!

Toodles x
