We made it to Lake Atitlan late that afternoon. We had to leave the car parked at the Fire Department since Jaibalito is only accesible by boat.
Some of us went to get cash at the ATM before hopping on the boat the rest waited at the Fire Dept. where they witnessed a car acccident. A lady hit a couple riding on a scooter. The firemen jumped into the ambulance and simply crossed the street to help the victims. We don't know what happend afterwards but we decided to leave once the cops arrived.
We used a tuc-tuc to get to the boat. The tuc-tuc is a mix between scooter and a car. It has capacity for three people in the back plus some luggage and one persone in the front besides the driver. Although the driver was telling us that he once fitted 16 people!!
When we arrived at the beach we were able to catch a public boat towards Casa del Mundo.
To get from the beach to the actual hote we had to climb a lot of stairs. It was hard for all of us, but it was worst for Jon who insisted on carrying a huge bag by himself. I had to help him on the last couple set of stairs because he was really agitated.
We got there just in time for dinner which is served family style at the hotel. If we would've missed dinner it would've been bad since there is no other place around where to eat.
We had a quiet and nice meal and then we hang around for a while in the hammocks overlooking the lake before going to sleep.
Before that we received a call from Perla's uncle from Guatemala City that will mark the beginning of our little adventure with the law. It turns out that a lady who is a relative of Perla's uncle and that is also Bi-polar hit the road in the middle of the night with her 10 year old daughter. However the day before she was saying that she has to come to Panajachel to settle some matters. The uncle file a missing person report at the capital, but he asked us if we could do the same in Panajachel since we were so close. We wanted to helped so we agreed to do it first thing in the morning. Stay tuned, theres more.....
