Our drive to the Dartford Tunnel was uneventful. The roads were pretty clear and we were able to keep to a constant 70. After the tunnel the M25 was not too bad no hold ups, we left the M25 at South Mimms and stopped at the services for a loo stop. We weren't planned to stop hear but when nature calls needs must. We stopped at the services but couldn't find our friends - we had lost themat a set of lights. They should have been in front of us but somehow the took a wrong turning and did a detour around Potters Bar, before joining us at the services. We didn't stop long, longer enough for the loo and buy some sweets for journey!! Then it was off once more.
From there we took the scenic route to Luton along various country roads. It was a pleasant drive seeing lots of animals, squirrels, rabbits, sheep and cows in the fields. We also saw a helicopter, some aeroplanes and trains. Pete wasn’t too keen on the smell – we drove for some of the route past the sewage farm!! Once at Luton we continued along the M1, again this road was not too bad a bit slow too start but no real hold-ups.
