London.... where my heart is!

Nothing like a good breakfast and a big cup of English tea to get your trip off to a lively start!

LONDON...ENGLAND!!! There's just something about this city that makes me go ALL kidlike, I giggle at the name, I visualise myself next to the Clock Tower, I dream of Thorntons and Oxford Street, I can picture the Tube in front of me as I tell myself "mind the gap".... I love it!

So needless to say, despite having done this for three times in the last 10 months, landing in Gatwick was brilliant as ever. It's such a quiet airport. If anything, the only grudge I have is why airlines don't fly over London before landing in Gatwick, as they do with Heathrow. The flight was on time, immigration was a bit of a pain with the lady inspecting my H1B visa as well as asking for my return flight ticket. I thought it was a bit tighter than usual. Oh well!

Gatwick as such has otherwise become clockwork for me. Went to a downstairs Cafe Nero for a nice hearty and greasy breakfast. I love those big cups of tea they serve. It was time for my flight to Manchester but for some stupid reason, they wouldn't put up the gate #. They finally did, headed to the tiny gate and boy was the plane crowded! What's even worse is that the flight didn't take off for about 45 minutes apparently as there was some congestion in the Manchester airport and they were trying to regulate the # of arrivals. The short BA flight was rather dismal, they served tea and some hard granola bar.

My good luck meanwhile, a lovely Virgin Atlantic stewardess sat next to me! They're gorgeous. And quite friendly too! Shame she'd gotten back from a long Orlando-Gatwick flight and was feeling jetlagged. She's from Liverpool and was headed home for a long weekend. And there I was thinking, if the first person you speak to on your trip is a Virgin girl, that can ONLY be a good sign of things to come!

And we finally landed in Manchester. Looks my blessed trip has BEGUN!
