I am Hitting All 50 States, Whether They Want me There Or Not!

50 State Project!

Chillin' in Brooklyn

A little while back I was looking through old photos and I came across the section with a few photos from Florida, New York and Washington. Looking at the photos, I realized how much I really enjoyed visiting these places and spoke to a friend about my experiences.  He had been all over the US and was surprised  to find that I hadn’t traveled through the country that much.  I told him it wasn’t by choice, more by the fact that my family never got the opportunity when I was growing up.  His family had traveled extensively in the US when he was a kid, as there were too many of them to be able to afford a plane tickets, so they headed out on numerous road trips.

This made me think, I had traveled throughout the Northwest quite a bit due to a tour that I had done a few years back, but besides that, I really hadn’t been anywhere else except New York and Utah for 48 hours.  This didn’t seem right.

So I spoke to a group of my friends and told them my plans to attempt the 50 State Project.  I wanted one photo from each state with me in it.  Most of them laughed and said that sounded like something I would come up with.  Many of them decided to help me out and join me on some of my excursions.  The problem is that most of them are dying to go to Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts and the four corners and so we may have to do a group trip.  But as far as Nebraska, The Dakotas and a few of the Southern states, I am having fewer volunteers.  Too bad, because I really believe they are missing out.  It’s all a state of mind and I believe there is beauty in everything.  One of my friends response to this was that I hadn’t seen Nebraska yet.  True, but Carhenge is beckoning me!

I haven’t gotten far into the project as of yet, but the more I do the more I realize how diverse the country really is and I how every place has its own special charm.  In fact, there are a many states I would like to go back to and explore again.  I am glad I began this project and have gotten a lot out of it so far.

If anyone has any suggestions on any of the states, I am all ears!  Who knows it better than the locals.  I do go to the touristy things, but I like to go where the locals go to get the full meal deal.

So, let the games begin!

What a GREAT idea!!! I really wish I would have thought of that about 15 or 20 states ago! Mostly what I have are pinpoints on a map and a few fridge magnets, keep forgetting my damn camera..... Good luck on your quest.
