Yes, I've been pretty busy in the past week or so...let me try to catch everyone up:
We spent the 4th of July last week taking tests - first, we went to the University Paul Valery to take our placement test for classes there (written and oral - I wound up placing in level 6 of 8) - then, we returned to the centre ville to take our final for Dr. Bell's class (on the south of france). I REALLY missed the beach that day, let me tell you...somehow, you know, taking tests just isnt the same as being at the beach! Then the next day (wed) we had our first classes at PV in the morning, followed by our final for our other UGA class (french literatue) that afternoon. Then Thurs we had class all day at PV (beginning at 09h00, ending at 18h15, with a lunch break), and to top the week off (because none of us had enough school, right?), we had class at PV saturday morning.
Mercifully, I got to go to the beach here Saturday afternoon.
Sunday, however, was a much more fun day! A couple of us went to Avignon for the day, and saw the Palais des Papes (the palace of the popes). Conviently, the history of the popes at Avignon (1305-1378) was the topic of my research paper (which was due today) so I was able to multi-task on sunday! travel, and get stuff done (research for the paper)! I really liked Avignon a lot; it has a lot of character.
Sunday night, of course, was the BIG GAME. It was absolutely crazy here - I think the entire population of Montpellier decided to come into the center of town to watch the game. And even though the outcome was sad, it was pretty cool to be around so many other soccer lovers for the world cup final (not to mention being IN the country of a world cup final team).
This week, unfortunately, has mostly just been more school. Tuesdays and Thursdays are really long days (class all day)...not to mention that the last workshop on tues/thurs is on the south of france (EXACTLY what we just had an entire class on) so it is pretty much a waste of time but we are required to go...
Happily, this weekend is Bastille Day, so we dont have class friday or saturday so we are headed to Nice for the weekend for some sun and fun! :-) I'm definitely looking forward to it...
