Madaba
September 21, 2007
Madaba is a city of 60.000 people. It is most famous of it's Greek Ortodox Saint Georges church. Not only for the church itself. In the church is a mosiac map of Jordan. First nobody knew it was there, which perhaps was a good thing because it probably would be destroyed in the Middle Ages. By accidence under the floor people found this mosiac floor in 1896, which date back to 600 after christ. This mosiac map shows all Jordan of 1400 years ago. The Holy City and landmarks are visible. There are also other mosiac found with the exotic wildlife of Jordan about 1.300 years ago.
