Big Ben - really not so big.....

Well, much to my surprise Big Ben is really not all that big.  OK, I'll admit that it's a decent size but not at all how I imagined it after seeing numerous depictions of it in various movies and such.  It is beautiful though.

I landed in London on 3 March and one of my best friends living there decided that there was no time like the present to hit the town.  Basically I got a good nights sleep and hit the ground running on 4 March.  No regrets here, believe me.  I saw Big Ben, London Eye, British Parliament, Trafalgar Square, The Horse Guards, Thames River, and Westminster Abby to name a few.  You may think that's a lot but I only had two weeks in London and given the amount of things I wanted to see and do while in town it was inevitable that I'd be seeing so many things in a day.  There are pictures posted of the sights mentioned above.

First impression of London:  Expensive but absolutely gorgeous.  I'm one that tends to find romance in buildings and cities that have a lot of history.  Yes, I may be a hopeless romantic but that's not always a bad thing.  It can sometimes shed a new light on something that's old and dismal.

Impression at the end of the day:  God, I am loving London!!

LOL! The first time I visited London I couldn't believe how small the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Trafalgur Square were! I was quite amazed at how easy it was to get from one sight to another - they were a lot closer together than I had imagined!
