Trip to Italy by car. Places we visited: Plailly, Versailles, Genève, Sirmione, Venice, Luzern.
Marie-Antoinette where are you?
Versailles was only a country village when the chateau was built in 1624, nowadays it is a suburb of Paris. King Louis XIV moved the Royal Court to Versailles in 1682. Until the royal family was forced to return to the capital in 1789, during the French Revolution, the Court of Versailles was the centre of power in Ancien Régime France. The symbol of absolute Monarchy.

Versailles is a marvel of richesse and glamour. From the King´s State Apartment and the King´s Chamber to the gardens. We loved every minute of it. The audio tapes are a wonderful finding for every museum, but here you felt royal. Up to the moment you feel the guillotine fall. Totally happy to snap out of that royal daydream. This place breaths history. And you´re part of it. We were amazed by the size of the rooms. During our visit we didn´t see the famous fountain shows, but still...the gardens are so beautiful! We would have loved to make the coach ride through the gardens, mais hèlas! The prices they charge are outrageous.
Will we come back again? I feel there is much more to see, so yeah! Definitely!
