where i watched the matches - guy standing on the fountain is some crazy australian (ok, they are all crazy) who kept running across the gravel from the seats barefoot and jumping into the fountain when the aussies scored.

salzburg was a pretty nice place. unfortunately we ended up staying a bit too far out of town for my liking. i basically prefer to grab a map, and walk around with maybe one or two things id definitely like to see and otherwise just go wherever seems interesting.

so far its worked out quite well, and thankfully i have a good sense of direction, as im sure it wouldnt be nearly as smooth otherwise.

salzburg was packed with all sorts of mozart stuff as expected, and some special things were going on as it was the 250th anniv of his birth i believe. the mozart museum was absolutely great and definitely worth seeing. his place of birth, on the otherhand, was pretty much a waste of time. i didnt even make it to where he lived, instead we went on a tour of the stiegel brewery. it was really interesting, and quite a good deal. even get 3 beers and a pretzel at the end.

i also randomly found a toy museum, and they had a decent sized display of old model railroading cars and whatnot, so i snapped some pictures of that for my dad - hopefully theyll come out ok.

all in all, id say the two nights we spent there was ample time. im sure i would have had more than enough time to see all the sights if i didnt spend so much time in the square watching the world cup with everyone else.
