guys i played ultimate with during a wine break, some of which were at dinner afterwards

quite a bit has happened since i was last able to update.

cheryl, ben, and i walked around for about 6 hours in no particular direction - eventually we came upon the circus maximo where they used to hold the chariot races, its basically a park without nice grass now. in anycase, i noticed a few people throwing a frisbee around, and waited to see if they would start up a game of ultimate. soon enough they had 7 people so i wandered down and joined in. turns out they were mostly americans. infact, one of them tom, was from waltham i believe, when he found out i was from newburyport he said that he went to pingree and played hockey with paul knight.

in anycase we played for about 3 hours id say, about a half hour into it cheryl and ben got bored so they headed back to the hostel.

i kept playing, and we even had breaks complete with red wine. afterwards, cristina said they were getting together to have dinner at her place and asked if i would like to join, so i did. she lived a ways out of the city, so it was a little trek to get there. but i exchanged contact information with them all, and had a good, and more importantly, free dinner. i also found out that most of them are tour guides for the vatican, and i told them i was going the next day when it wouldnt be so hectic as before and told me to swing by for a discounted or free tour.

when i came back to the hostel, cheryl and ben were completely drunk. i met our new roommates and they said ben had been in the bathroom for nearly 3 hours at this point, and that i should go check on him. he wouldnt open the door, but he made some noises and knocked on the door when i asked him to if he was alright, so i let him be.

the next day we went to the vatican and met up with josh - a guy from kansas city who has been living here for 4 years while attending school. he gave us a discounted tour of the vatican for 10 euros instead of the usual 30. it was a good tour, and i got some pictures which i hope to post later. afterwards, we headed out with josh for some dinner, i had some fantastic lasagna. we then headed out bar hopping to a few of the spots he usually goes to. all in all, a good night, expensive, and late.
