Waiting .... waiting .... in Piraeus
So up the street we went with our suitcases on our backs… We walked past the spice market, the meat market, and the vegetable markets and then… I spotted a motel lobby. We inquired at the front desk and found they had rooms available. We got two on the fourth floor. It’s very nice motel with marble floors and beautiful pictures.... We knew we had made a right decision when we stepped off the elevator and saw two girls on their hands and knees washing the spotless marble floor. Our room overlooked the vegetable market. The motel is THE TRITON. it is 60 euros a night and the other was 40 euros...we are much happier now. …. ALTHOUGH the other was an adventure and that's what we are here for.
When we were leaving the Triton to find an internet an 87 year old man caught me and introduced me to his family and told us to come to Aegina to his motel and he would dance for us.
.. and then he did start dancing. I LOVE THIS PLACE!We spent the day exploring and we are hoping the strike will end tomorrow morning. Robert is a pastry chef and quite a good cook. It was hard for him to be in the middle of the food stores and not be able to shop and prepare... We really enjoyed the section of the town we were in... the people were friendly and it was very interesting to us to see the market goods. There was a cute market just up the piazza from the motel. It is a short distance from the metro if we wanted to catch a ride to Athens (about a 20 minute ride)...Our goal at this point is to get out to Mykinos ... We will be at the docks at 6am to get the tickets and we'll hopefully get out to the islands. ...
