We arrived in Caeptown after 28 hours of traveling. We did see Jean-Claude VanDamme in Frankfurt airport!
Capetown is a beatiful city. We have been to all kind of attractions. We will try to post some photos when we can. The highlight so far was a complete fluke. We went to the District Six museum which is a tribute to people who lived in an area which was buldozed when the whites decided that they needed this area. As we were going in, a historical society group invited us to a presentation that they were having. There were only about twenty people in the group. As it turned out the presenter, Eddie Daniels, had been a political prisoner on Robben Island for 15 years with Nelson Mandella. They were best friends for this time.
We visited Robben island and saw his cell the next day and the quarry where he did his heavy labour for all those years. This is also where Mandella was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 years.
We hiked around on Table Mountain (1,050m above the city) and we are on the museum circuit today. We leave on our safari June 25. We are headed out on a bike tour of the winelands tomorrow (June 22).
Winelands- We biked around yesterday in the Winelands. We are a little sore today. After the third wine tasting there was no way I was stable enough to get back on the bike.
We have just figured out that our favorite internet cafe is a gay pick up spot!
