Shattered... but on top of the world!
Arrived in KL in the very early morning, after a fairly sleepless "sleeper" train from Singapore. Train seemed to stop every 30 mins and the locals didn't seem to care for being quiet for us poor KLers.
We're ashamed to say we were revived by a breakfast at the golden arches...... not that there was much choice anyway.
Upside to arriving so early was that we managed to get to the petronas towers early enough to get a ticket to the sky bridge. On arrival the towers were pretty awe inspiring even against a slightly murky sky. I've never seen such modern sleek islamic architecture. Getting up was super fast... 1 flr a second! Once up the view was magnificent. Even though we were only 1/2 way up, it still towered above the many skyscrapers.
Later we paid a trip to the KL bird park. When they said biggest in the world, we think it only applied to the square footage it covered rather than the species of birds it house... it seem to be limited to peacocks, storks and parrots!!!
Found ourselves with quite a bit of time to kill but not much energy to do anything before our next sleeper leg up to Butterworth. After 2 days of walking around sweaty tropical capitals without a shower we plucked up the courage to brave the public showers in the train station. Actually not too bad for 70p!
After buying the obligatory biscuit munchies for the journey (oreos), we jumped aboard smelling much better.
