First 2 days of beach
After a bit of bustle in Penang, we are dying for some relaxation and a bit of beach. We've decided to stop the gruelling overland travel and try a bit of sea faring. Getting to Langkawi was nice and easy, even though it was a bit of an early start.
Ferry was nice and quick and we arrived at the jetty - reminded us of the departurers lounge at Heathrow! After a short drive 1/2 around the island we arrived at Zakry's guesthouse - pretty basic but did the job nicely... 100m from the beach, cheap, and even the beer is only 50p. The beach was lovely and not at all over crowded - just a few big resorts - very chilled. Infact Langkawi wasn't as over developed at we thought it would be.
We decided to spend only 2 nights in Langkawi, although nice.. it's a bit of an older person's destination - we felt surprising young!
Arranging to get to Koh Lipe from Langkawi was a bit hit and miss since Zack the guest house owner, seemed determinded to give us wrong information - leaving us feeling very unsure about the ferry tickets we'd bought!! It seems not a soul had heard of the schedule we had booked and having checked out the contact details, it reverted us to a Mr Sham... to say I had my doubts was an understatement.
Anyway... all worked out well since we got our ferry to Koh Lipe without a hitch!
