The Inn was nice, the room okay for me and my heavy suitcase (just lugging it upstairs was a pain). I had a bed, a TV and a private bath which was all I wanted. Since it was late, I walked around the area a bit and found a place for dinner- fish and chips, of course.
Day 1 in Edinburgh was great! I had a hot breakfast at the Inn before heading towards the castle. On the Royal Mile, I went first stopped at the Scottish Whiskey Experience. It's perfect for whiskey-lovers, and still educational and fun (there's a barrel tour!) for us non-whiskey-lovers. From there, it was time to storm the castle!
I spent hours there since there was so much to see and do. I truly loved being there, just imagining what history was like, and looking at the incredible views over Edinburgh.
From there, it was back down the Royal Mile. I stopped at Camera Obscura, a fun place with lots to do. I also went to St. Giles Cathedral, then it was time for souvenirs. And silly me- I forgot the exchange rate! I thought it was $1=2 pounds, not the other way around. So I spent a lot more than I wanted! Oh well. Dinner- Haggis! Yup, I dared the haggis. It was quite good too, alongside tatties (mashed potatoes) and neeps (turnips). Then it was back to the hotel since I needed to sleep. I had an early day the next day for my bus tour!
