After a couple of days driving, one very long one especially as I’m not feeling the best we get to Ushuaia, the worlds most southern city or the end of the world, depends which way you look at it.
We sort ourselves out at the hostel and head in for a look round town, Andy, Muss and I try and sort some trout fishing for the next day which we finally manage to do. It’s then out for a feed before an early night.
The next morning it was up early to be picked up for our fishing. We headed north for about an hour to Lake Escondido where we jump in the boat and head our. The first 40 minute are pretty action packed with four fish court, only Andy out of us catches one. From there the days goes pretty slow but we still chuck the rods out there and try.
NEW YEARS EVE
It’s up and a beer at 9am with the Kiwi boys, Muss, Andy and Bevo, to bring in the NZ new year. Head to the supermarket and help Mel and Andy with a grocery shop with the main ingredients being the meat for the BBQ., also stock up on everything for the truck as well. Head back and drop groceries of and head into town for a couple of quiets.
Head back to hostel where we start the BBQ, The kiwi boys do a haka for the group, pretty impressive too! And the New Years drinking begins. The BBQ goes down pretty well and it’s all go. Katie and Hamish turn up around 1030 and have obviously been celebrating by themselves. After several false starts we finally do the countdown and it’s 2008. It’s kisses, hugs and manly handshakes all round and then off to a club to round the night off.
It’s a fairly slow start it’s time to shower and head into town to meet up with Katie and Hamish, Muss is still steaming from the night before. We wander round town for a bit and generally waste time. We head out for some dinner where have a nice crab pasta before heading up to the hostel and relaxing before bed.
