So after a couple of days driving we get to El Chalten. We get ourselves in to a nice wee hostel and then head out for dinner. I have one of the biggest and nicest steaks ever!!! And of course a few beers. A couple of us check out some pubs but as it's a small mountain village there's not much doing.
The next day after a sleep in I head off on a walk with Andy, Mark and Narissa to a waterfall. The weathers pretty rough and walking in to the wind is quite a feat. Just over an hour later we reach the waterfall and relax and take a few photos before heading back and relaxing.
The next day it's up early and off up to Torre Glacier at the base of Fitz Roy mountain to go ice trekking. We walk for about 2 hours just to get to base camp where we get given our crampons. Then it's off again, we do a river crossing on a wire attached to a harness and then it's up a decent hill and finally to the glacier. We walk for about 40 mins to a ice wall which we get to climb. Here we have some lunch and Baileys on ice before heading back. Andy and I decide that we should get back quick so we pretty much run back from base camp. Man that beer feels good once back.
