About half way down....

So once again we get in and chill out for a bit before heading into town and having a look round. We sort out a trip to the Colca Canyon and then go visit the Museo Santuarios Andinos which exhibits 'Juanita, the ice princess' A frozen Inca maiden who was sacrificed on a mountain 500 years ago.

We grab some lunch and then relax in our room and watch some TV, a real novelty especailly as there´s some movies in english. About this time it seems that we´ve all eaten something that hasn´t agreed with us and no one has much motivation to do anything so it´s a relax day. Tho Katie and I do manage to go out and grab some pizza for dinner.

The next day we get picked up and head out to the Colca Canyon, on the way we see llamas and alpaca grazing on the side of the road also Vicunas which are the wild cousins of llamas and alpaca. We climp up to 4900m where Hamish and I jump out and get on mountain bikes.

Condor!
We ride down some paths which are pretty rocky and steep but good fun but needless to say the mountain beat more than once including one right over the handle bars. But we make it down to Chivay after a couple of hours after travelling 18km and dropping 1400m. At that altiude even peddling downhill was hard.

We then go and chill out in some thermal pools for the a couple of hours which is great after the mountain biking. We then go out for dinner and some traditional music and dance, where we all get to show that we have no rhythm at all when we get dragged up.

The next morning we get up at 530am and head up into the Colca Canyon proper. This isorlds second deepest canyon at 3191m and also the home of the condors. We get to see some cruising around which is cool, they are some big birds!

We then hed back to Arequipa and sort our stuff out before catching an overnight bus to Cusco......
