Epic views and seriously fun riding
We started the day going over to Flat Pass, a long Jeep trail that traverses some really scenic terrain. Right as we started out there's a stream crossing that can be ridden, but there's a good chance that you'll get your feet drenched in the process. So most of us took off our shoes and socks and walked across - a cold endeavor, but way better than soaked feet 1 mile into a 12 mile ride.
After climbing for what seemed an eternity, we started bombing sown some really fun, fast, and gnarly terrain, with lots of opportunities for doing rock ledge drops along the way for the more adventurous riders. One rider destroyed his rear derailleur which caused a major delay, plus Mike L's front fork had a catostrophic failure that rendered it mostly useles, spoiling the rest of his ride out. Mechanical failures are extremely random, and you just hope you're not the next victim.

With a group of 18, the odds of mechanicals are fairly high unfortunately.
After a 2 hour break for lunch and regrouping, a smaller group of riders went out to ride the Sovereign Trail - an epic singletrack treat that is probably the best ride in Moab. This trail is well designed, with many difficult yet rideable technical challenges and amazing flow. We did about 4 miles out then turned around, since the full loop was more than we had time for. There were lots of big grins when we finished this baby.

Tomorrow morning we're heading out at 7:30 for Fruita, CO. It's about a 2 hour very scenic ride up the Colorado river. Fruita is another mountain biking mecca, and has really blossomed with some incredible new trails over the last 5 years. We're spending Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday there, then heading back to Moab Wednesday afternoon. Fruita is 90% singletrack, so not one of us will leave there dissapointed.
