A week vacation is too short, and if you think more about it makes it even shorter, as your mind wanders back home of very cold temperature and more white stuff falling on the ground. As soon as the morning sun is creeping into the sky among clouds, you planned for the day, rain or shine. One rainy day doesn't make a difference. It's even more colorful to your sceneries and knowing it also rains in Maui ...
On the second day, early morning we drove to a gas station for a full tank. "Get a full tank and drive to Hana. Take your time and drive carefully .." - a tour adviser gave us these tips rather than taking a tour bus to Hana. I have never driven a long winding road in my life before but happened in Maui.
On the third day, my alarm woke me up at 3:00 AM, for the trip to the "House of the Sun" (Haleakala) is at 3:45 AM. "Dress warm because it's cold up there at 10,000 feet above sea level ..." - the tourist guide once again gave us one good piece of advice. I didn't have enough room for my winter jacket to put it my luggage. True it's blowing cold like -29 degrees celsius like home. I survived and the beautiful sceneries of the sunrise at Haleakala Summit are self explanatory.
It's freezing cold at the summit. We need to warm up at the beach and get tanned!!! So we can show off back home we tanned at the beaches of Maui.
On the fourth day, it's another early riser trip and be at Maalaea Harbor at 6:30 AM, a 15-minute drive from our hotel (Kihei). The Wonders of the Seas gave us some new adventures - Whale watching and snorkeling. Ask my wife why she wants to snorkel but she cannot swim, but "bribed" the life guard so she can hang on to his board for a dinner in return ...
On the fifth day, it's time to take it easy or take a breather. But before sunrise, I put on my jogging suit to join other early joggers. It did tempt me though to steal some shots of early morning sceneries.
On the sixth day, we do not have definite plans but shopping and visiting nearby attractions. As an avid hobbyist amateur photographer, I took this opportunity to catch and compose sceneries that might be worth "capturing it" with paints and brushes on a canvas ...
On the seventh day, IT'S VALENTINE'S DAY !!! but it's time to have a last glimpse of Maui, then board the plane back home at night. But before anything happened, a visit first to the shopping centers is necessary on THIS DAY !!!
