The Trip:

Some pals and myself decided to drive from Bangalore to Gokarna. We completed the 453km drive in about 10 hrs which included breaks for food and stops to admire some breath taking sights.

The drive gets a little rough with bad roads towards the last 50 odd kms. On the way we stopped at Jog falls and it was an amazing view with the falls in full flow after the recent rains.

We spent day 1 in gokarna walking around the town and just looking around. We noticed that a lot of people had come there for visiting the temples and to perform various Hindu rites. Having heard a lot about the local cheese maker, we payed him a visit. His cheese and peanut butter were world class. We came across a lot of small resorts and a couple of big ones too.

Day 2 was planned as the beach day but we spent the first half of the day trekking up various hills in gokarna and seeping in the beautiful sights. Eventually we hit the kudle beach. Strolled around for a while and then drove back to the hill near om beach to see the sunset.

Finally on day 3 we made it to Om beach. It felt like paradise on earth. We trekked all the way to the end of the cliff from where we got an amazing view of the beach. From there we walked to the Half moon beach and the paradise beach. The water was a good balance of the calm and wild.

After soaking in all the sun we could and partying as hard as it can get we commenced our drive back to Bangalore. The drive was as pleasant and relaxed as the onward journey.

True to its reputation...Gokarna is a lovely and romantic place. The right time to visit Gokarna is between November & May. That’s also the time when u can experience some good adventure sports like river rafting, trekking & rock climbing in and around Gokarna.
