Hidden Paradise in the Pacific Ocean

Melekeok Presidential Office

The dome at night
Melekeok State, on the big island of Babeldaob, officially became the Capital of Palau since October 1, 2006. In this state the Presidential Office, National Congress and Supreme Court are established in a new complex of huge buildings laid out in the middle of an amazing green tropical forest.

It is surprising to see in this island environment that the new Palau National Capitol buildings closely resemble classical Greek/Roman architecture in style. It looks like a little bit of Washington, DC USA just appeared in the middle of Palau's jungle!

Everytime I felt bored in Koror, I always drive and visit this place. Amazingly, this is the only Presidential Office which doesn't have any security at all!! Can't you imagine that? People are free to walk by and around the complex!

Me neither. It's amazing. Can't you imagine the population there is only 20,000 people and they have such building like this.....

Impressive I never would have imagined such a building in Palau.
