Songpan: horseback riding

General: Don't read to much into the stuff you get on line. The different trips into the mountains are great (though simple). Don't expect too much. Just have a blast and enjoy the view. Take some extra snacks and water with you (though food and drinks are provided). If you like photography, take loads of film (more than you usually do).

Weather: Beginning of October was nice this year. Still a bit cold in the evenings. I understand that from November to March it's really cold. Watch out for the sun and if you burn easily take a big tube of suntan location.

When in town: Stop by Emma's Kitchen for some good food (She's also knows a lot about the area). Talk to Mike (horseback office) for answers about pretty much anything in Songpan. Hotels are not too expensive. There is only one ATM in town... talk to Emma (Emma's Kitchen) for location.

Other:  Try the local food and the yak meat! There is some great food and you should most defiantly enjoy it! Try to get out of the town on your own and go for a few walks (not just with the horse trip guides). You’ll see a lot more than the average tourist!

If you have any questions about the trip, drop me a note! I will do what I can to answer it!
