Old World Charm in the Heart of Via Veneto
AMBASCIATORI PALACE HOTEL

I won a charity auction for three nights at Ambasciatori Palace Hotel on Via Veneto. Opened in 1905, it was built to host diplomats of nearby embassies.

Its location is impossible to beat. You are in the heart of Via Veneto - close to Villa Borghese, the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. If that’s not enough, Rome’s Hard Rock Café is next door.

The hotel features a fabulous old-time European lobby with chandelier and huge staircase. I was pleasantly surprised by my room; it was large with its own balcony and sitting area. Some might be disappointed by the older furniture and lack of state-of-the-art amenities; I was thrilled by its unique charm.

I found everything to be quite wonderful. The breakfast buffet was very tasty. Most importantly, the staff was exceptional. When a hotel clerk discovered I was planning to visit Borghese Gallery, he not only let me know that one had to have reservations, he gladly picked up the phone and made the arrangements. The level of service from everyone was impressive, especially considering I was staying there without charge.

If you’re looking for a modern 5-star hotel, this is not your place. However, if you’re seeking old-time European charm and service in the heart of Via Veneto, consider Ambasciatori Palace.
