Queuing at Galleria Uffuzi

Perched on the side of a hill overlooking Firenze (Florence) on terraced ground this huge camp ground is full of olive trees.  It is expensive because of it's accesiblity to the city and it offers many extra facilities though the internet is not working.  Showers are good but the cubicle has nowhere to keep clothes dry.  They appear to cater for backpackers without vehicles and have a line of tents set up for the tour buses and a loud bar where partying is encouraged.  Catch a bus to the city so no drama of finding a parking area.  Piazzas, narrow streets, cathedrals, staues of David, aprons with David on them, boxer shorts with a part of David's anatomy on them.  Walk over the ancient, enclosed bridge where the shopkeepers sell gold jewelry as they have for centuries.

Bus back to camp ground and I make dinner and a cheeky sparrow takes crumbs then runs up Andrew's outstretched leg when I place crumbs on his knee!

Next day we again bus to the city and Andrew has our day planned from the guide books he has been studying.  We join the queues for the Accademia dell Galleria to see the sculptures and Leonardo's David, completed in 1504.  He is certainly an imposing figure.  Four times life size or more, there he stands, naked, with his sling slung over his shoulder having just slain Goliath! The crowds are immobilised by the sight of him and some sit and contemplate him for ages.  It is possible to move a video camera set up to display the statue on screen to view him from every angle not possible to a person on the floor.

By the time we have seen many of the sculptures in Italy we realise that their men frequently went off to battle naked.

We have a coffee and an antipasto plate to share then it is ice cream time and I end up with a 12 euro monstrosity that Andrew has to help me with.  Next stop with more queuing, is the Galleria Uffuzi which houses some displays of Leonado's works and models of his inventions and his notebooks. Returning across the river we catch the bus back to the camp and buy a bottle of Michelangelo Camping 2004 domestic white and cook dinner.  The sparrows arrive, they bring friends this time.  It thunders and rains a bit and taking my eyes of the food briefly while I fill the kettle I find sparrows inside the chip bag having a party!
