I studied at Jagiellonian University in Krakow for 18 months. I earned my MA in cultural studies (TransAtlantic Studies / Relations) from there - same university as Copernicus and John Paul II went to. :D

Weekend in Zakopane

Some of our group decided to take a weekend trip to Zakopane.  We spent two nights at the Good Bye Lenin Hostel which isn't particularly close to the town part, but right near some mountain paths.  It was a particularly cozy place to stay & I'd definitely stay there again.  On the bus ride home, it got particularly foggy, it was a great atmosphere. :D

Rustic, in the woods
This is a pretty nice hostel up in the woods in the mountains in Zakopane (1.5-2 hours from Krakow, Poland). Not particularly close to the center of town, you are really in nature when you stay here. Lots of wood, gives you the feel of being out in the wilderness ... although in reality, civilization is not far away at all. Clean. Friendly staff. In the mountains (150m from the Tatra National Park), perfect for hiking, or skiing, depending on what time of year you are there.

Definitely gets the thumbs up from Jeremy. :)
