Day 40 - Longview

Longview Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

The Journey of Hope is a cross-country bicycle trek beginning in San Francisco, CA and ending in Washington, D.C. The event raises funds and awareness for people with disabilities. I biked this event in 2003 and I return this year as the Crew Chief.

Day 40 - Longview

Started off as a normal day... but as I was with the Sweeps, Unroe hit something weird on the road, swerved into John and took a really nasty spill. I used my expert first aid skills and patched him up. I ended up taking him to the ER because his cut is the size of a half dollar and a few inches deep! So it was a HUGE cut!! This is actually where I've been updating my journal (BIG update!! From PHX till today!). After the hospital, we had a visit with employees of AMBUCS Too, which makes bikes and other things for people with disabilities. We all had fun with some tennis, ping pong, volley ball, trampoline action, pooling, jacuzzing, and great food (burgers/hot dogs, great desserts). Our sponsors told us to eat all of the cupcakes so Mingo took it upon himself and he ate over 25!! His reward that night was helping me with ice and water (I didn’t do that on purpose… it was his turn!).
