Campo Gorilla Reserve 5
It was a sunny fall day and I had no plans except to chill out at home. My best friend called up to find out what I was up to and basically said I'll pick you up...we're going to the zoo! Now how could I pass up spending time with my best friend, her daughter (my goddaughter), and her infant son? Since she had a family membership, I got in free...SCORE! The real purpose of our visit to the Los Angeles Zoo was to see the Campo Gorilla Reserve which opened the week before. We made this our first stop...well our second stop because my goddaughter wanted to see Reggie the Alligator, who was rescued from Kenneth Malloy Memorial Park/Machado Lake in Harbor City. The Campo Gorilla Reserve was beautiful and several of the gorillas were front and center for viewing. Chimpanzee exhibit was also nice...part of the exhibit is plexiglass that partially surrounds the animal enclosure so we saw the chimpanzees up close. The Asian Elephant exhibit was under construction so it will be nice to go back to the zoo again to witness its unveiling. Before leaving, we stopped to catch the tail end of The World of Birds Show which was exciting and funny for the young and not so young.
