Our 4 hour bike ride

BUS JOURNEY

Well I was dreading this after our last one but it turned out not so bad. Basically slept the whole way, waking up 3 times. The first time I woke up was when the bus driver carried out an emergency stop to avoid a massive fallen boulder bloacking the road. The second time was another emergency stop, this one to avoid a crashed car which was totally written off! Third time was with some fat Mexican bumping into me repeatedly with her bag.

SAN CRISTOBAL

It is much colder here, and we are at such an altitude that the clouds cover the top of hills which looks pretty cool.
So we spent a day walking around San Cristobal. Went to the ´award winning´medico museum which shows all of the indigenous medicines (it is shite, dont waste your time!) and to a famous church(also shite) and decided we didnt like San Cristobal after all.

Before the ride

We decided enough was enough after being soaked in a torrential downpour. We cancelled our hostel for the next night and booked our bus to Palenque for the next day and also a bike tour before we go.

Spent the night in a cafe before heading back to hostel and bed where I set my alarm for 7am, yes thats right, 7AM!!! so we could do the ride at 8am.

DAY 2

Christ alarms are awful!! We crawled out of bed at 7:53am, bumped a shower and breakfast and headed to meet our guide.

He was supposed to speak English but the most he could say was ´namo?´

Ok so 25 minutes into the ride, the sun beating down hard on my back, I was ready to tell our guide to shove the bike up his arse, haha. It is a seriously tough going ride, the guy at shop put us on the éxperienced´ride because ´we looked fit´!!

It is really hard going but after about an hour you ease into it and it is alot of fun, especially the downhill parts, and when you get to stand on a cliff overhanging a river. Bend also went over his handlebars showing off and we caught it on video which was hillarious!

4 hours is alot of riding, and it is mostly up steep hills so dont bother unless you are either really fit, or, like me, are a stubborn idiot and hate to quit!
