We were hungover in the morning but nowhere near as bad as I expected! After saying goodbye to the Canadians´(who looked desicively rougher) we headed for our bus.
Bus was 2 hours late and when it arrived there was no rush to make up any time; no one even put our bags in the hold for 15 min after it arrived.
First impression of Cancun: It is America!! Now in my opinion that is no bad thing so bring it on!
We were pretty far from the main strip in Cancun so we got a taxi over. Everything is more expensive here and there is def a tendancy for the locals to try and rip you off so watch out for this.
We spent the day just wandering around and went to the Hard Rock cafe for some well earned American food.
Booked a party boat trip for tomorrow since its Bends birthday and also booked into a proper swanky hotel.
We had to be at the meeting point for the boat trip by half nine in the morning, so we strolled in at quarter to ten, haha. It was really sunny which we were delighted about as the previous 2 days had been pretty overcast.
The boat trip was great! Pumping tunes, sun and free alcohol is a great combination and by the time we docked at the first island we were already pretty drunk since we hadnt had any breakfast.
We went snorkling along a coral reef which was fantastic. It feels so good to be swimming with a school of fishes, then to turn around and swim back through them, watching them darting out of the way at the last second.
We had an amazing buffet at the island and plenty more alcohol and then we were taken to another island for some shopping.
On the way back out came wigs and the boat was very lively.
We got back to our 5star hotel and were both hammered. Now with our room we had entry into the Regency Club, which is basically a place for select people(rich snobs) to go and eat and drink for free. So we rocked in there in our t-shirt and shorts combo! I swear it was filled with people who thought they were gods and we instantly received dissaproving looks. We ordered hamburgers, shunning the free food, and had it wheeled in on a silver trolley! We then drank free champagne out of pint glasses, and when the waiter came over and asked if we would like the proper champagne glasses we informed him no, they were much too small for Scots!
We met an American guy who we also let into the Regency Club with our card and proceeded to get much more drunk.
We went back to our room at 9pm to get changed and then head to a club with our new american amigo, and by half nine Bend was being sick in the toilet which I captured on video. The toilet wouldnt flush but I refused to call reception!
I managed to drag Bend out and we hit Coco Bongo which we were told is the main club in Cancun. You pay 400pesso (about 20quid) to get in and then you drink for free which we pretty much abused!
The club was class and they have a raised stage where there is broadway type shows and singers which was trully stunning. They had a fight between spiderman and the green goblin which was awesone. They flew around the club on wires and pulled some pretty impressive stunts.
We left the club around 5am.
Woke up around 2pm and once again Bend was being sick.
Leaving for Lima tomorrow so goodbye 5star hotel!
The end of our Mexico trip, time for South America!!
So what did I think of Mexico? Amazing! If you get the chance to come def go to Puerto Escondido, it is like paradise on earth and easily my new favourite place!
You should also check out the Calakmul ruins. It is alot harder to get to than Panenque but so much better and less touristy. When you are on top of the big pyramids it is like standing on the roof of the world. Make sure you bring bug spray though as there is millions of them and they are very hungry!
