So I'm here in Spain for the next year to work as an au pair. Although to say I work would be an insult to people who actually do work hard for a living. I think this place might be the death of me (if not my liver) but I'm having the time of my life meanwhile. Luckily my work schedule allows me to travel a lot. If you're looking for a serious travel blog...move along nothing to see here. But if you want to read all about my crazy, drunk adventures as I traipse through Europe...enjoy! cheers!

Querido Madrid...

...I've been neglecting you lately haven't I? It's not that I don't love you, I do honestly. You see, it's just that the last few times we've gone out, you've kinda gotten me into trouble. I don't know. Maybe it was the whole rush of being in a foreign land and I was just overly excited about the bars staying open until the sun comes up. But when I first got here, I felt como un pez en agua. So happy! But you seem to bring out the party animal in me way too much. Turns out, it wasn't such a good idea to drunk-dial Papa Au Pair at 6 in the morning after all, however accidental it may have been. And neither was breaking my (brand new!) camera, forgetting to show up to work in time, and all the other crazy things I've done while being out of my mind with you. I dunno. I thought that maybe it was time I started to see other places. You know, just to see what else is out there. I went to Salamanca and it was nice to look at, but not as fun as you. And then I went to Barcelona and loved it there....but I always knew I would come back to you. And I have. So let's get re-acquainted, shall we? But's let's take it slow this time, ok? We still have 10 months to get to know each other. And maybe we should start seeing each other more in the daytime too, you know? And I don't mean through the dark shade of my hangover sunglasses. Maybe one day I'll finally wake up in time on a Sunday to check out El Rastro. Or even get to El Prado when it's free. Oh, and don't forget I still haven't been to a bullfight. And isn't there a zoo somewhere? It can still be fun, promise! And maybe if you're good (more like if I am) we can get a caña or two. But no more downing mojitos at 6 AM- that's never been a good idea.

con amor,
Christina
