After spending a while traveling in the Coastal Northern California area... I decided to head east... back through Truckee...across Nevada and into Utah... somehow, during my stays in Moab and Bluff Utah, I failed to take a single picture...suffice to say the scenery was unbelievable and comes highly recommended! NOW... onto New Mexico and thereafter...

Chama

The railway close to our park

Ventured into Chama to find a small, sleepy town nestled in the north-central part of New Mexico. The town was situated on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. The narrow-gauge railroad runs into the high country near Cumbres Pass, through scenic Toltec Gorge, with the other terminal in Antonito, Colorado. Although I did not ride the train, I was reminded of it's presence as it made way like clockwork right beside the park wher I was staying.

I wandered around the town and ate dinner at an old restaurant/hotel called Foster's that has quite an interesting history... http://www.sgha.net/nm/chama/fosters.html as it is said to be inhabited by spirits...I can not add to these stories, but they did have amazingly great sopapillas..:)
