WOW WOW WOW this holiday was amaaaaaaazing!!
first of all the people who live around sharm el sheikh were all so friendly and helpful making us feel really at home from the moment we set foot i Egypt, thankyou for making us feel so welcome!
Our hotel, Tropicana Rosetta in Naama Bay was absolutely immaculate, the room was great, the buffet food soooo tasty and the swimming pool such a nice place to relax. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Sharm el Sheikh, it is literally 5 minutes away from the beach too!
We took 3 main trips which i will briefly tell you about. The first was to St Katherines Monastary which took us right into the heart of the Sinai Desert, the views were amazing even from the coach. The Monastary itself is very crowded with tourists but i still felt it was quite magical. We got to walk around to see the Burning Bush and the Church inside which was beautiful.
The next trip was to Petra in Jordan. Oh my god the travelling was very very long!, 2 hours on a coach to Taba Heights to catch a boat (which was really nice) for 2 hours until we got to Aqaba in Jordan and then another 2 hours on the coach to Petra. However, once we were there we could see that the travelling was totally worth it as Petra was just awe inspiring. The magnitude of the monuments in the cliff faces just put into perspective how small i was! Definately worth while going here, of course we didnt get to see all of Petra as it is so vast you need 2 or 3 days really to see it all. Will definately be going back!!!
The last of our main trips was to Luxor. The difference in this small city to Sharm el Sheikh astounded me. Sharm is very much enclosed in desert and mountains, with no hint of green fields or trees! But Luxor, due to the fact it is situated on the Nile was a lush, green place with palm trees, farms and shady places everywhere. While in Luxor we visted the Valley of the Kings where we got to enter 3 tombs, inside we werent allowed to take pictures becuase of the paintings and art work inside. The colours are all still so vivid even after being there for centuries, absolutly amazing! We then went to Hatchepsut's Temple, again the size of it astounded me and the carvings just amazing. We then visited Karnuk and Luxor temples which i cannot put into words. You need to go and see these temples fr yourself to understand just how heart stopping they really are!
Our other trip was Quad biking in the desert!! Again this was great, we got to ride around and see Bedouin people and a camp where the Arabia Nights trip takes place with belly dancing, food, music and star gazing. (unfortunatly we didnt go on that excursion :()
You can see a selection of my photos in this blog, but none of them do the places we visited any justice, they are too brilliant to be captured on picture! Please take a look and comment if you wish, or ask questions and i will be happy tto help if i can!!
