Henrik posing like the statue with no face
We had to get up early this day, as our teachers had arranged a sightseeing for us in the morning. Before we sterted aour tour, we met the lady in charge of Habitat for Humanity in this region, who gave us the information about our travel the next day. Our sightseeing started off at the Heroe square. An amazing place with statues of great men defending their country in the past. Our guide was very enthusiastic and gladly told us everything he knew about this place! After Heroe Square we moved on towards the centre, passing the theatre and other buildings wirth seeing! After exploring the Buda side of time, we headed towards the Pearl Bridge and the Pest side. When you cross the bridge over to the Pest side, you see a big hill in front of you, and you are relieved to see that there is a tram taking you up there.
Me playing with the lion guarding the building, lol
But we weren't so lucky.. we had to WALK up there.. and it was a really HOT day! But eventually we made it to the top, taking a well deserved break looking out over town, it was an amazing view! After the break, we checked out more of the buildings at the top, among them an old building with real bullit holes from WW2, now planning on being converted to a library I think it was..
After the building-sightseeing, the tour was over and we had free time! YEAH!!! We were on our own until 7 in the evening when the group were meeting up for dinner. I went with Charlott, Anne Marthe and Ingun, and we were STARVING, so mission 1 was to find a place to eat. We had our minds on one of the restaurants by the river, also close to the main shopping street ;)
While heading for the restaurant, Charlott, being half Hungarian, siad she found a cool statue when she was here with her family a couple of years ago and wanted to find it again and take a picture.
You try to find ONE statue in budapest you saw a few years ago, Budapest is FULL of statues! But amazingly we found it and were ready for lunch!
After lunch it was a few hours of shopping before we started on our way back to the hotel. And I am glad we had a lot of time, because we got lost!! Compared to Norwegian cities, Budapest is HUGE! After being lost for about 2 hours we finally made it, 5 minutes before we were meeting up for dinner!
After dinner we headed out checking out more of the nightlife, before getting to bed, preparing for tomorrows looong travel day.
