walking in Rockefeller Plaza
We were staying in Queens and left it in order to go to Manhattan around 9:30am. Why didn't we do that earlier? Because it's crazy doing it during the rush hour.
Everybody is going to their works, so the subway is completely overcrowded!
The idea was visiting Manhattan first and seeing all the famous buildings over there. All the buildings you see at TV and in the movies.
We started visiting Midtown where you can find many of NYC’s top attractions, like the Rockefeller Center with Radio City Music Hall and Top of the Rock Observation Deck. We just kept on walking in the Rockefeller Plaza and stayed in the area. I was enjoying the view of the buildings and busy streets.
Then we went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This Church is so beautiful!
hahaha, Mickey is present too, hahaha
I was really amazed it was just in the middle of the buildings. Here in Peru, the churches are usually located in a square or in the front of a park. So, finding one next to the buildings was really something. We were walking through the 5th Ave. and I could find all the fancy stores, such as Cartier, Luis Vuitton, Tiffany, etc.
We also passed in front of the Disney’s Store and I had to go inside, hahaha.
I was thinking that maybe just the Cathedral, was the only church in the middle of the buildings, but we found St. Bartholome’s Church and another one in the same situation. Nice!
Then we kept on walking and arrived to the Trumph Tower.
You can visit it and it was funny I could listen the classic: “You’re fired!” hahaha
Relaxing in Central Park
It was a nice building with fancy offices.
After having being walking in Manhattan we decided to go to Central Park, while we were trying to figure it out what to do next. Because we needed more time to visit Central Park properly. It’s huge! It’s so nice finding a big park in the middle of a big city. I heard that NYC is already the greenest large city in the States :).
There are so many things to do here, that we didn’t know where to start. We took it easy and thought about what part of the city to visit now.
It was time to visit Staten Island. We took the metro and went to the South Street Seaport and took the ferry to Staten and see the LADY! This ferry was free, so it was even better ;).
Battery Park - Hitch?
We were in Lower Manhattan, enjoying of the incredible views of NY Harbor, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We took the ferry and then walked through the Financial District and visited the Battery Park (Do you remember the film Hitch and the bull? Well, you can find it at Battery Park – but there are always a lot of people wanting to take a picture with it and I was one of them, hahaha), Wall Street, World Trade Center site. Here we found the City Hall, St. Paul’s Chapel, Federal Hall and of course the NY Stock Exchange.
After that just we kept on walking a little north and arrived to a really fashionable neighborhood: TriBeCa, famous because of the film festival. Then we went back to Uptown (Central Park). I just loved the Central Park. It was the perfect place to relax after having walking the whole day or just to rest.
It was getting late and we went back to Queens, where our friends were waiting for us. While we were there, we visited Astoria in a Greek neighborhood ;)
It was a long day. We needed to rest and recharge batteries for the next day ;)
