I'was at the Top of the Rock

My friend just told me he had to go back home. He had to attend to a wedding and we had to go back. We??? No, no, no, it was my 1st time in NYC and I didn’t want to leave this amazing city!

So, we made a deal. I would look for a place to stay. His friends had to leave the city too :( If I succeed, I would stay. And… I did it!

First thing I did in the morning was going to the Rockefeller Plaza in order to climb to the Top of the Rock and get an amazing view of the city. I was thinking about the Empire State " the traditional view " but a friend advised me to go to the Top of the Rock, because it’s also great, but not as overcrowded at the Empire State.

just walking in Manhattan and feeling like being part of a sitcom...
So I did.

I did the line and took the elevator in order to go to the top. While I was climbing the stairs one of the guys who worked there, asked me where I was from. I said to him, I was Peruvian and he started talking in Spanish, he was Peruvian too, hahaha. He gave me the maps and a souvenir pen for free :) I remember his name: Tomas! He was really helpful and gave me some tips ;)

I was a bit worried about the accommodation, so once I was ready I looked for a phone and made a couple of calls. I was lucky and one hostel had a free bed for me!

So, I kept on walking around feeling much better. It was time for visiting the Chrysler Building and Grand Terminal. It was great. I also joined a walking tour at the Whitney Museum.

Broadway

Suddenly I noticed it was almost 1pm. I had to go back to Queens in order to pick up my stuff, say good bye to my friends and go to the hostel. The plan was going back to Fleetwood on Saturday and Chris would pick me up from the station.

The adventure was starting…

I arrived to the hostel and when I was trying to check me in, the guy told me there was no space. I was surprised! He told me he’d do his best. The person who confirmed the space to me by phone wasn’t aware of the people who were coming that day… He gave me a bed anyway, but it wasn’t 100% sure I’d be able to spend the night in that room. Maybe I should move to another one. Ok, no problem. I just took a shower and went back to Downtown.

I was in the Theater District, just walking around this amazing city.

The Fashion District :)
I visited the famous Macy’s Biggest Store and the Old Paramount Building " now the Hard Rock. Of course I didn’t miss the MTV and ABC Studios. The huge Toys “R” Us was a must too. It doesn’t matter what time is it, Times Square always attracts to many people " and I wasn’t’ the exception ;)

The hostel was in the Morningside Heights, but before going there I wanted to go to Harlem, hahaha. A bit crazy? Well, I just wanted to say I’ve been in all the boroughs of NYC!

At the hostel I was just thinking about going to bed early when I met a nice German guy. Daniel told me he just met a Japanese girl at the hostel and they wanted to go out for a beer later. So he invited me to join them :)

While we were waiting for Akane, he was checking his emails and I met a friendly guy from Melbourne. He was also by his own in NYC, but he was there because he was going to a music festival. I invited him to join us, but he couldn’t. But he wanted to join me the next morning, while I visit the city. We had a deal.

Akane came we took the Metro and went to the Greenwich Village. First we got to a pub, had a beer and played darts. I was amazed I won! Because it was the 2nd time I played in my whole life, haha. We went to another pub for a drink and listened to some music. It was fun!

It was a bit late, but this city is always awake! And I wasn’t’ alone, that was even better.
