Gozo
is the second island, in size of the archipelago of Malta. This to the north of Malta and is

Gozo es la segunda isla, en tamaño del archipielago maltés. Esta al norte de Malta y es mucho mas pequeña que esta. Casi se podria ir a pie, y recorrerla en un dia. Primero se pasa cerca de la isla de Comino, la tercera del archipielago, que casi esta deshabitada. Estas primeras fotos que se ven de ahí. El puerto donde se llega se llama Mgarr y tiene, como todo en Malta, innumerables iglesias que destacan en el horizonte. En unos cuantos minutos se abandona el barco, y ya con el coche partimos hacia el centro de la isla, hacia la capital Victoria.
Esta isla esta bastante menos explotada turisticamente que la vecina Malta, aqui todavia el tiempo discurre mas lento. Cuentan que muchos viajeros se quedan a vivir definitivamente en Gozo, porque atrae, excepcion de Ulises, quien despues de haber vivido 7 años en Gozo, se libró de los brazos de la ninfa Calipso y abandonó la isla. Leyenda o no, Gozo tiene su encanto.
La capital, llamada Victoria, en honor a la insigne reina británica, antes se llamaba Rabat, la ciudad. Aqui, en verano, se celebran numerosos festivales musicales, que atraen a mucho publico joven.
Presidiendo, en lo alto de la colina la ciudad de Victoria, esta la ciudadela medieval, un imponente conjunto de murallas y fortificaciones que hace inaccesible la entrada a la ciudadela. Fue construida para protegerse de los numerosos ataques de piratas corsarios y de los turcos en el siglo 17. En cierto modo se parece a la ciudad de Mdina en la isla de Malta. Aqui en Victoria esta por visitar : La Catedral, El museo de la catedral, El museo arqueologico, El museo de Historia Natural, el Museo de Artesanias.
Tambien fuera ya de la ciudadela la iglesia de San Jorge. En otro orden de cosas, son dignas de ver las ruinas prehistoricas de Ggantija.
Esta isla sorprende, por lo pequeña que es y que tenga tanto que ofrecer, tanto construcciones como la Ciudadela, iglesias, santuarios, como los monumentos prehistoricos o las formas caprichosas en la orilla del mar en Azure Window.
