State College is only a short hop away. Our friend Craig picked us up and took us right to Penn State campus. Passing the big stadium where a game between Penn State and Michigan is to take place the next day, and the camping fans for both schools. We went to the creamery where great ice creams were being sold for about $2 each! One size fits all (a huge portion more than most of us can eat).
After making a stop at Craig's home, we set out to see the birds at the nearby Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. Many birds of prey (hawks, eagles, owls, vultures) who were not able to be released back into the wild after their injury were housed here for educational purpopses. We enjoyed seeing the birds and know that they were being taken care of.
We had dinner with Craig, his wife Eileen, another friend John and his wife Alice at a nearby town Boalsburg, in the restaurant called Kelly's. Despite having a cow on its roof, it's a good restaurant, and I had delicious French onion soup and Cajun style mahi-mahi fish. The appertizer of warm goat cheese was surprisingly good, and Kevin's lobster ravioli was also tasty.
