Kevin and I at the back of the cottage of Amy's in the north
We got up early this morning so Amy and David can take us to the airport, then they drove and we flew to meet them at Stanhope airport about 30 minutes north by air. Since it takes 2 hours to drive, we took our time, and actually flew to the island airport City Center in Toronto first, and got a great view of the lake shore and then took off for Stanhope. There were many lakes and patches of colorful trees below, we flew at only 3500 feet so we could see the ground pretty well. We got there about the same time, and Amy would have gotten there sooner except for the detour they had to take near Minden due to an accident investigation.

The little Stanhope airport is between two lakes, so it was very scenic. After we landed, the friendly local airport people greeted us and told us we should register in their guestbook because we came from the farthest away this month! We drove to Amy's cottage by the lake, and then to a lookout place near the town of Haliburton where a view of the picturesque town and lake below can be seen and there were groves of golden and orange leafed trees above.

Afterwards they drove us back to the airport and we took off for Hanover, NH. We flew almost due east and over more patches of color and lakes, then there were some mountains when we got to Vermont and we flew over Killington, VT the ski resort, where there was no snow yet.

My friend Joyce and her husband Peter picked us up at the local airport in Lebanon, NH, only a few minutes from Hanover, where Dartmouth College is, and where they live. For dinner, Joyce went right into the kitchen and cooked this delicious lamb shank, string beans. And she baked an apple pie with apples she picked from an orchard nearby the day before. The crust was flaky and it was a great apple pie!

After dinner, we definitely needed a little exercise to work off all that food. We took off walking through town (for a few minutes!) and ended up going for about 3 miles, past the college, around a pond, and back.
some beautiful fall colors at the cottage
It was getting a bit cool by the time we got back. But the moon was full (Chinese mid-autumn festival) and we walked under bright moonlight. On the pond, a mist was starting to form. It was a nice walk and then we were ready for a good night's sleep!
