The unbelievably mezmerizing churches of Lalibela!
February 18, 2008
Believe it or not, the most amazing churches in the world MUST be here in Lalibela, Ethiopia. King Lalibela spent 23 years building (or should I say, "carving" eleven churches straight from the earth's granite hillsides. Imagine going to Yosemite and just start carving into the earth - making churches. It is an unbelieveable sight to see. St. George's church is the most mezmerizing church I have every visited. It is in the shape of a cross. From an airplane, it looks like a bullseye target. Take a look at my photos.
In Laliebela, we went to a 5am Sunday morning mass which was quite special. I think you'll get the idea when looking at the photos. Enjoy!
