Puerto Montt
Not much to say here. I spent all of 6 hours here and a good portion of that uploading photos. We were dumped out on this trashy looking port city at 8am. We walked around looking at nothing until the internet opened up at 9:30am. I do credit Puerto Montt for having the fastest internet in all of South America.
I did have a quick reunion with my Dutch roommate from Bariloche who ended her volunteer work and headed here to take the Navimag back the opposite direction. We had a giggle when a big trucker honked his horn as he drove by. Out of the passenger side we could see Frederick (with Begona) waving bye to us. They were pretty smart and talked one of the truckers onboard to let them hitch a ride rather than paying for a bus or plane like we did.
Now, they are travellers I admire!I had hoped to see Luis the Dishwasher before we left town as he excitedly told me at breakfast that he was getting to go home to Puerto Vara (20 kilos away) at 2pm after the boat was cleaned up. This was not expected. And, he seemed very happy, but had to run off so as to not get in trouble socializing. I sure hope that it wasn´t that he was permanently getting to go home because he let 2 girls borrow his jumpsuit.
After helping Pete to yell at the Navimag people for ripping his backpack and grabbing some lunch from the local SuperMercado with Tessa, I jumped on a bus to the airport which was 30 minutes away. Tessa took off on a bus to Bariloche. Pete was going to stay the night before heading to Pucon. We all go off our separate ways to our next adventures and to meet our next set of new best friends.
