On Monday, we had a long drive ahead of us to get to Arthurs Pass but as we dont have much time it had to be done. Firstly we drove from Renwick to Kaikoura, where we saw loads of sea lions. It was an amazing drive along the rugged coast and the sea was so blue. After Kaikoura we headed further down the coast to Christchurch, stopping for Russell to cook his prawns and to have ice cream. They have the most amazing ice cream over here, I think we must eat some at least every other day. The drive to Arthurs Pass was breathtaking and so different to what we had seen earlier in the morning. It was very mountainous and some of the mountains still had snow on. It was definately the best day of driving we have done so far. Unfortunately we met our new enemies "Sandflies" - they are everywhere and bite everywhere!
As we wanted to do a full day walk in Arthurs Pass we woke up early to find out some information, we decided to do Scotts Track. The woman warned us it would be steep, but she didnt really say how steep, it was like rock climbing at some parts. It was extremely tiring but well worth the walk as the views were amazing. We had luch at the top of the mountain before making our way down again. As we finished the walk earlier than planned we drove to a place called Rapahoe, as Russell got into his head he wanted to go swimming in the sea. Even though it was a warm day, the sea was freezing, but he battled on and spent at least 10 minutes in there! Watching the sunset on the beach in the evening was a bit of a different way to end the day.
