Four days in Reno to refresh our batteries, visit our son, win a bundle of money, eat great food, take a couple of side trips, shoot as many pictures as we can and enjoy ourselves as much as possible.

Day V (These Roman numerals make lots of difference.)

From Reno there are many possibilities. Back over Donner Pass (I-80) to Sacramento and Highway 99 south is quick, and somewhat boring because we've done it so many times. And this turned out to be the one we took.

The Tioga Pass route which would have meant driving south on 395 for 130 miles which is no fun at all to Lee Vining, but the trip up over the top of the world on CA-120, as I've called it in the past, is so breath-taking it's worth the drive. That leaves the trip past Tioga Pass into Yosemite and then down Highway 41 into Oakhurst and Fresno where we pick up Highway 99 for the last hour home.  And this year because of such heavy snowfall, Tioga Pass was not opened yet.
