Glorious Arctic Sunset (post-traumatic bliss)
  • After Dettifoss: I was so happy to be out of there... I was stuck in Dettifoss from before 1:00PM and got finally on the road back to Husavik>Reykjavik at 7:00PM... I thanked God, called my family and texted friends. I couldn't believe all I had to go through. But I learned that there's still a lot of good people in the world ;)

  • The view of the Arctic Ocean and the mountains during sunset was just glorious! I could appreciate the beautiful scenery even more now ;) I guess I had an "All-Icelandic" experience, to say the least.

  • Driving back to Reykjavik, at night: I didn't get to go to the Myvatn lake, but I couldn't care less. I passed Husavik, then Akureyri and then again all the mountains to return to my hotel in Reykjavik. The roads had no snow or ice at all and it didn't rain or anything. It was a pretty easy ride, even the wind didn't seem to be that strong and there was a giant bright full moon. It was a long drive, but I made few stops and I think I arrived at the hotel after 6.5 hours. It had been a long day, and although I planned to wake up early the next morning to go whale watching, I knew I wouldn't. And to be honest, I didn't care! It will be on my list for my next trip to Iceland ;)
